Terms and Conditions

  

By ordering and paying your deposit to Confection of Affection you have deemed that the terms and conditions are understood and accepted.

Confection of Affection will not disclose any personal information about customers to third party businesses or organisations (see Privacy Policy).

 
 

Prices

All prices are non-negotiable and priced according to your exact requirements, design and size of cake. Dates may be provisionally held if requested for a maximum of 14 days for wedding cakes and 7 days for celebration cakes.

 
 

Deposits

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 50% of the total cake price is required to confirm your order. Once received, this will secure the date for your event.

The remaining balance of your order is due 2 weeks prior for celebration cakes and 4 weeks prior for wedding cakes. For celebration cakes ordered less than two weeks and wedding cakes ordered with less than four weeks’ notice prior to the date, payment in full is required to confirm your order. Your order is not confirmed until we are in receipt of payment. For orders that remain unpaid for, we reserve the right to cancel.

 
 

If you have decided that you would like to secure your wedding date there and then, this is possible by paying a £50 non-refundable payment. This payment will secure your date in the diary. Once consultation has taken place to finalise the details of your cake, this £50 payment will be subtracted from your remaining balance. The above 50% deposit for the total cost will still apply. 

 
 

Payment

Payments can be made by cash, cheque or BACs. Cheques are only accepted when received with enough time to clear by the time payment is due and should be made payable to Lisa Cooper. Please email us with confirmation of transfer if paying by BACs.

Final payment for your wedding cake is required no later than 4 weeks before the delivery date. Final payment for your celebration cake is required no later than 2 weeks prior.

If full payment is not received and cleared in our account before cake collection / delivery then the order will not be released.

 
 

Cancellation

If you need to cancel or amend any part of your order, please contact us as soon as possible. We will try our best to make changes to your order but this cannot always be guaranteed. Orders cancelled before final payment is due, will receive a full refund. Orders cancelled after this time up to 1 week prior will be refunded 50% and the deposit will be retained. Orders cancelled within 7 days prior to the event will not receive a refund and the full amount paid will be retained.

Cancellation must be made in writing (by letter or email) to Confection of Affection and will only be deemed to take effect from the date your cancellation is received by us here at Confection of Affection.

If you postpone the event we will endeavour to transfer your order including deposit and payments made, subject to availability and if the date is available for us to transfer to.

In the very unlikely event of severe medical, natural, or other emergencies, it may be necessary to find you an alternative Cake Decorator. We will make every effort to secure a replacement cake designer of equal or more advanced skill at no extra cost. If such a situation should occur and a suitable replacement is not found, responsibility and liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event.

 
 

Changes to orders

If requested, we will endeavour to adjust the design where possible, but sometimes this is not possible according to the nature of the request or amount of notice given. If the alteration affects the cost, or preparation work for the original design has already been undertaken, then your balance will be adjusted accordingly. Please warn us when you pay your deposit if you are undecided on the design. We understand designs can organically change if ordered well in advance, however all designs must be confirmed to us 4 weeks prior for wedding cakes and 2 weeks prior for celebration cakes.

We reserve the right to change the design at any point if circumstances beyond our control, may compromise the quality of the finished cake.

Each cake is made individually by hand, so although every effort is made to ensure consistency, a small amount of variation may occur from the design requested.

Should any alterations be made to the cake after delivery/collection for example the addition of your own cake topper or fresh flowers, we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused. We are able to source some non-edible toppers with prior arrangement at an additional cost. We can source fresh flowers at additional cost if requested but this is subject to what flowers are deemed safe to use by the FSA at the time. Flowers can be used alongside the cake as an alternative to being in contact with the cake.

 
 

Dietary Requirements

Please discuss with us if you or any of your guests have special dietary requirements. Cakes can be made without most allergens. All out cakes are made fresh to order – Dairy free, gluten free, vegan friendly, alcohol free etc is all possible, just be sure to let us know when you place your order. We work in a small kitchen so we do our best to ensure that allergens are prepared in a different area, though we cannot work in an allergen free environment.

 
 

Non-edible Items

Most of our cakes contain inedible items in some form; it is the client’s responsibility to ensure these are removed by your caterer or guests before consumption e.g. Support dowels in tiered cakes, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers, flower picks & flower tape etc. We will advise you, and where possible your caterers, on any inedible features on your cake for the purposes of serving.

 
 

Delivery Conditions

Delivery charges will be applied for delivery distances above a 30 mile radius at a rate of 40p per mile. Alternatively, cakes can be collected from our premises. Upon collection/delivery we provide you with information on how to transport and store the cake.

If you choose delivery, it is our intention that your cake will be delivered in perfect condition prior to the start of your event. Please advise us of the delivery location with full postal address and where it is to be delivered to i.e. if a venue, which room or what name the event is booked under.

We cannot be held liable for any damage that is rendered to the cake at the venue once we have left the premises.

If you chose to collect the cake, we will not be held liable for any damage to the cake once it has left our premises. We will advise on the best way to transport your cake and will help to load it into your vehicle. To ensure your cake is as fresh as possible, we recommend it be collected the day before the event. *Please note that wedding cakes must be delivered*.

Late requests for a delivery, after securing the booking based on collection, will be accommodated where possible, but cannot be guaranteed, as earlier delivery commitments must take priority.

 
 

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure arrangements are made for a sturdy cake table, any linen, cake stand and knife, which should all be set- up prior to our arrival. These will not be provided by ourselves unless confirmed by prior arrangement. If any delay is incurred due to these not being set-up, we reserve the right to charge for any delay incurred (labour and time costs at £20 per hour). Alternatively, please arrange for the cake to be left with the event manager to assemble or move into position as appropriate.

 
 

Consumption and Storage

Your cake is baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of your event, we cannot guarantee its quality if it’s consumed more than 48 hours after the event. Our cakes are made entirely of natural ingredients, please bear in mind that they will not have an extended shelf life like most supermarket cakes, which contain additives and preservatives to ensure their prolonged life.

Sugar paste covered cakes should not be refrigerated, as it will cause condensation to form on the surface of the icing. Refrigeration also accelerates the staling of the flour in the cake.

 
 

Hiring of Stands and other items

If you would like to hire a cake stand or decorations, then a cash deposit is required prior to release. Deposit amounts vary dependent upon the value of the item being hired. Please make arrangements to ensure items hired are safely returned to us within 7 days of the cake release. Once we receive the hired item back we will release the deposit held subject to no breakages.

 
 

Media

We reserve the right to use photographs/video taken by our photographer of orders on our website and social media pages.

 
 

Complaints

If you have concerns about your cake, please notify us upon collection or delivery of your cake so that we have the opportunity to rectify it in time for your event. All other concerns should be made in writing, and evidence of the fault should be included. No refunds are given due to change of mind. Confection of Affection cannot accept returns. Refunds are at our own discretion.
